Snowmobile Enforcement & Education Blitz
On Saturday, February 10th, Greater Sudbury Police were patrolling snowmobile trails, taking the opportunity to interact with riders & passengers.
Officers were patrolling area trails, local gathering areas, a local fishing tournament, and the Walden Winter Carnival.
RIDE Checks were also conducted in relation to drinking & driving (snowmobiles & motor vehicles).
As a result:
*40 snowmobiles were stopped
*3 ATV’s were stopped
*7 motor vehicles were stopped
*7 warnings were given for administrative and moving offences.
Drivers & riders were educated in about proper documentation & safe riding/driving.
Other offences handed out included:
-Rate of speed on trails
-helmet & equipment inspections
One 3 day suspension was issued for a motor vehicle driver on a local lake in relation to drinking and driving.
Both riders on the trails and drivers of ATV and motor vehicle are reminded that drinking and driving will not be tolerated and are also asked to respect the rules of the trails and of the roads in and around the trail plan.
