Province Funding Focuses On Special Needs Education
The province has announced increased support for about 20,000 students with special education needs.
Education Minister Mitzie Hunter was in Sudbury today to launch the creation of a new Northern Supports Initiative and increases in the Special Education Grant that will see an extra $22,000,000 invested into special education annually.
Of this amount, $13,000,000 will go to Northern school boards.
The funding aims to help 22 school boards in Northern, and rural Ontario.
This money will be used for programs such as behavioural supports, psychoeducational services, mental-health support, speech language and other services to give these students the best learning experiences possible.
