On Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 10:07 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police members received a call of a motor vehicle being driven by a male who was possibly impaired on Mississauga Avenue in the City of Elliot Lake.
A vehicle description and plate number was provided. Police attended the area and located the vehicle parked in a driveway on Axmith Avenue. The vehicle was still running, lights were on and a male was sitting in the driver’s seat. A strong odour of an alcoholic beverage was detected emanating from his breath. He was subsequently arrested and his driver’s license suspended.
Shannon Melis, 47 years of age, from Elliot Lake, was charged with:
Care or Control While Impaired (Alcohol), contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample, contrary to section 254(3) of the CC.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Tuesday, April 10, 2018.
