A City Councillor has been accused of having a conflict of interest during the vote on the new event centre location.

Local business man Andre Dumais has come forward claiming ward 12 Councillor Joscelyne Landry-Altmann was a director on the board of the Sudbury District Motorsports Association during the time of the vote.

The Kingsway location, which was proposed to also house a motor sports track was chosen after a tie defeated the downtown site. Landry-Altmann’s vote was one of six against downtown.

ward 3 Councillor Gerry Montpellier declared a conflict of interest prior to the vote because he was involved in motor sports within Sudbury.

A hearing on the claim will go to Superior Court January 12th where Landry-Altmann could be banned from running for council for the next 7 years and removed from representing her current ward.
